The EU mission in Macedonia and the US Embassy issued a joint statement in response to the missing of the deadline for agreeing on the election laws.
Both missions have the same the position as the European Commission, that political parties still will have to close this matter, today.
” The Commission regrets that despite progress made in the working group, the parties still have not been able to finalize the electoral reform. We strongly urge the four party leaders to reach agreement today. The Election Day is approaching. Therefore, the electoral law needs to be adopted as soon as possible and its implementation needs to start in view of the elections in April”, the statement said.
