Police forces of Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo signed a memorandum of cooperation

The Police forces of Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo in Ohrid today signed a memorandum of cooperation which provides for the formation of an expert group dealing with illegal arms trafficking in South-East Europe, and regulating the manner of mutual cooperation, stated the Ministry of Interior. (MOI)

“In the past few years, this region has not only been a crossroad of international channels of illegal arms trafficking, but also the region of origin and destination of illegal weapons. That is why today, we are moving in the right direction, by officially announcing the formation of this expert group for illicit arms trading. With this type of cooperation, we will raise them to a higher level of prevention, performance, and operations in dealing with this type of crime”, said the Director of the Public Security Bureau (PSB), Goranco Savovski in a statement from the Ministry of Interior.

Mr Savovski indicated that the establishment of the expert group will provide a “rapid exchange of criminal intelligence and information, regular way of collecting and processing statistical data and preparing analyses relating to production, storage and trade in firearms and ammunition”.
