The responses to the draft measures to be known next week

Greece and Macedonia will soon exchange answers on draft confidence-building measures, announced Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The proposals were and soon the responses from both sides about which proposals are acceptable will be exchanged as well. Then we will get down to the implementation of confidence-building measures that are acceptable for Macedonia and Greece,” announced MFA, adding that “next week we will know what is acceptable to both sides.”

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kodzias last week in New York stated that the official Athens reviewed Macedonian proposals and realized that the list of the Macedonian government has common items and proposals to list of suggestions of the Greek side.

– A month ago in Riga, I met with Foreign Minister of FYROM, who has the same name as me, he is called Nikola, meaning Nikos, and I proposed to discuss measures to build confidence. There was no immediate response, but, eventually, the government of the neighboring state agreed to this conversation. In Budapest we exchanged catalogs with items for confidence-building measures and, as analyzed in recent days, there is a similarity to certain items – emphasized Kodzias.

Meanwhile, the correspondent of META to Athens reports that Greek diplomats do not want to comment on the media, because they think the negotiations about the draft confidence-building measures will succeed in that way.
