Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the SDSM resign from Government

-

Ministers and Deputy Ministers from the SDSM today resigned from their functions in government.

“Should Parliament dissolve, or if is a decision to change the date of the Dissolution of Parliament on February 23, which would amend the decision to dissolve Parliament on January 26 2016, we will request that that the previous resignations to be clarified. Under the Przino Agreement, ministers and deputy ministers from the SDSM are part of the Government, in accordance with the Agreement of June 2nd 2015, and the further the protocol off the Agreement of July 15, 2015, which was set up to organize fair and credible elections, once all the conditions and points of that agreement are met in full” reads the SDSM statement”, reads the statement of SDSM.

The party says the SDSM and the opposition remain guarantors of efforts for fair, regular and democratic elections in the country.

The resignations of officials from the SDSM mean that if Parliament was to dissolve and still hold elections on June 5, the SDSM will not be part of the interim government that will prepare and organize the elections.

With this move, the SDSM is making it clear that for their party and the united opposition, conditions for fair and democratic elections have not been met, and the SDSM does not want to give legitimacy to, as they say, another set of criminal elections.
