Gruevski: Professors should create scientific thought, not run away from it

By applying the state exam, I expect university professors to actively write and submit their papers in world renowned journals, which, in order to be published, should be quality, stated Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski today.

– One can write ten papers and all to be rejected, not to be accepted by those renowned journals which have an impact factor and here lies their concern. Partly because of the effort they would have to make and write, create a new scientific thought – said Gruevski.

According to the Prime Minister, if the professors are dedicated to work and put a lot of effort, he is confident that Macedonia has the potential to become internationally more competitive in the field of scientific thought.

– That’s why this law is needed, because we are at the bottom, on the tail in Europe in this field and it is the source of the revolt of the professors. I understand, but I disagree. If they decided to be professors, they need to create a quality scientific thought and work, not run away from it, because their counterparts in all countries do that more than they do – said Gruevski.
