In the May 2024 edition of Alan Ford comics, publisher and author Max Bunker introduced artist Veronica Guitti as new member of the team that produces this Italian cult classic.

In his op-ed for the 659th episode, Bunker explained that Guitti work was supposed to feature in the issue number 660, however they had to reschedule because one of the four artists they work with was late with completing the episode due to extenuating circumstances.

Guitti’s episode named “4 minutes later” (4 minuti dopo) was therefore published a month earlier. As a reason Bunker wrote that other artists are in advanced age when they have need to take care of elderly parents, and one of them was forced to deal with medical emergency.

Veronica Guitti graduated visual arts in 2004 and during her career has worked on animation and tatoo art. During the previous months she had published several panels of the upcoming Alan Ford episode on her Instagram profile (@veronicaguitti_art).

“She has her own style which I liked, and which now has to pass the  test of the readers’ taste. If, as I hope, your opinion is positive, then I’ll provide more executive space for the first woman to draw Alan Ford,” Bunker wrote.

The first episode of Alan Ford comics was published in Milan in May 1969. The comics was made by Max Bunker as writer and the legendary Bolognese artist Magnus, who drew the first 75 episodes. After Magnus’ departure–who returned to the series only once to draw the jubilee 200th episode–Bunker has worked with more than a dozen artists. They received varied response from the audience, while most longstanding were Paolo Piffarerio, Dario Perucca.
