Don’t ring for help: SOS Help-line for suicide is unavailable

-

Citizens who are mentally ill or have suicidal tendencies, have no SOS telephone help-line where they could turn to for help. The number 02-3136-400 which was promoted for this purpose does not work – or to be more precise it just rings and rings, with no answer.

“Meta” yesterday to try to reach someone on the phone on the SOS Line for crisis situations at the Psychiatric Clinic. After several hours of persistent ringing, no one picked up the phone.

In order to obtain confirmation that the phone number is still in service, we requested information from the Director of the Department of Psychiatry, Antoni Novotni.

He did not even know the number and referred us to his secretary, which, in turn, did not respond to our calls.
We asked another doctor at the clinic, but she had no information either. She told us that she is not sure what the new number is or whether there is one at all, but that the number that we were trying to call is no longer active.

We were inspired to check the SOS line and look into the case after a young woman committed suicide in Aerodrom.
