MPs give the green light for the Law on Languages to go to a commission debate

At today’s continuation of the 15th session, MPs, with 66 votes in “favor” and 41 “against”, gave their permission for the use of languages to go through a second reading with the competent commissions.

When the voting started, from the benches of VMRO-DPMNE’s parliamentary groups, shouts could be heard, chanting “against, against”.

Before the vote, the coordinator of the first parliamentary group of VMRO-DPMNE, Ilija Dimovski addressed them and said that this law does not solve the problem with the use of the Albanian language, and according to him, the same was said by his colleagues from DUI, Besa and the Alliance for the Albanians.

After the vote, Dimovski requested a half hour break and transcripts of the session. Xhaferi accepted the request.

MPs from VMRO-DPMNE and SDSM also said that they would submit amendments to the law, which will be considered by the commission.
