About a hundred people gathered at the stone bridge near the construction site of the Panoramic wheel, to send a message to the government that “Skopje is not Disneyland.”
-Skopje is not Disneyland, is a citizen initiative that was formed to oppose the new constructions included in the Skopje 2014 project. The group is especially opposed to the Panoramic wheel because this is the last drop in a glass that has been overflowing in a time when Skopje has 30 percent unemployment and when people get 8000 denari salaries and can barely feed themselves. The people has had it- said Sanja Mihajlovik of the organization.
The initiative says they have a good following and that the people will enter a dialog what to do against the Panoramic wheel.
– We have to talk about how to spare us from these ideological warts in the landscape and how to prevent politicians from building controversial buildings which have nothing to do with the interest of the citizens. This must stop because Skopje is not Disneyland. This is an ideology Disneyland that is happening to the city- concluded Mihajlovik.
