Zaev: We signed a Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with Bulgaria, not of problems and public spats

We signed a Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighbourliness and Cooperation with Bulgaria, not of problems and public spats, Prime Minister Zoran Zaev wrote on his Facebook profile following Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov’s statement that “Macedonians need to mature for a date for negotiations with the EU.”

“We agreed that common moments of the past should unite us, not separate us. Experiences of historical commissions around the world and Europe show that co-operation requires time, effort, patience, respect for each other, and great mutual commitment. However, above all, we need a common idea of moving forward. We know that this idea is alive and we have shown that for the most delicate issues, common ground can be found, if desired. To succeed, we need to mature together. Friendship must come from the both sides, mutual”, Zaev wrote.
