Zaev-Dudziak: UN ready to help the Government in implementing the plan for protection of Lake Ohrid

Prime Minister Zoran Zaev met today with the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of North Macedonia, Rossana Dudziak. At the meeting they, among other things, discussed the “measures that the Government has established and undertaken for the protection of Lake Ohrid and the Ohrid region; among others, moratorium for large construction works, legalization with strict adherence to law only, the new urban plan for Ohrid and the planned new law for Lake Ohrid. ”

“Prime Minister Zaev stated his determination to continue the cooperation with the UN, especially in the part of the protection of the environment, through a series of initiated projects in the country. Willingness for cooperation is also expressed from UN’s side for any additional help the Government may need in the plan for the protection of Lake Ohrid, taking into consideration that the UN is already helping in decreasing the pollution of the lake coming from Sateska River that flows into the lake, by permanent monitoring of the most important species and habitats in the National Park Galichica”, the press release from the government states.
