Xhezair Shaqiri-Hoxha will receive a reimbursement for his engagement

“Shaqiri will receive a proportional amount for the duration of his contract”, answered Mile Bosnjakovski, a spokeswoman for the Government, to Meta’s question as to whether Xhezair Shaqiri, alias Commander Hoxha, will receive a salary, that is, a salary for his brief engagement in Government.

Last week, the Government confirmed that Xhezair Shaqiri, a former NLA commander, and “mastermind” behind Tanusevci, and also known for his militant and radical statements after the armed conflict in 2001, was hired as a special adviser to Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in the fields of internal security and the fight against radicalism. For this position, a salary of 36,000 MKD was foreseen.

However on Friday, Prime Minister Zaev, followed by Shaqiri, announced that the special adviser would step down from the position due to a heated public reaction to the appointment.

The Government also added that “there is currently no procedure for granting another position”.
