The crisis is in full swing, assessed Sela after meeting with Hahn

The political crisis is far from over, unfortunately it is in full swing, stated the leader of the Albanian Alliance, Zijadin Sela, after his meeting with European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn and three MEPs Ivo Vajgl, Eduard Kukan and Knut Fleckenstein.

“The only opportunity to get out of the crisis is the institutional path. This society needs debate. All those who are against this form, are nothing but anarchists who are prepared to risk the peace of the people”, said Sela.

At the meeting, Sela stressed that Brussels diplomats reiterated that it is necessary to form a government urgently and to continue on the path towards European integration. He pointed out that President Ivanov is not entitled to a personal point of view, but the constitution.

“The President may have hundreds of opinions, however, as President he is not entitled to a personal point of view regarding the mandate, and he must give it to the person who secured a parliamentary majority, with a minimum of 61 MPs. We need to complete the constitutive session and once again Ivanov must be informed that the majority was formed by a new Parliament Speaker, and then wait 10 days for him to hand over the mandate. After that, if he does not award the mandate, freely vote for the government in Parliament. If anyone disagrees, they can take it up with the Constitutional Court”, said Sela.

When he was asked whether the meeting focused on the topic of some sort of sanctions from the EU, Sela said that they had not discussed the subject.

“I do not see why Hahn would discuss sanctions with us, He should talk to the creators of this crisis. He who creates chaos, can control chaos”, said Sela.

European Commissioner Hahn and MEPs Vajgl, Kukan and Fleckenstein are currently in a meeting with the leader of DUI, Ali Ahmeti, and after that, they are left with meetings with the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev and president of VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski.

According to the initial agenda, Hahn was meant to give a statement after he concludes all his meetings, however, instead the Commissioner will give a joint statement with the three MEPs.
