SPO: We Have a Legal Obligation to Demand the “Sopot” Case Because it Resulted From The “Bombs”

The Special Prosecutor’s Office has a legal obligation to demand the “Sopot” case because it is connected to the content and the criminal acts that came out of the publicly revealed wiretapped conversations, as was announced today from the SPP Katica Janeva’s cabinet.

“As was explained previously, on basis of a publicly revealed conversation, the case that to the general public is known as “Sopot” was demanded, and in order to voice our opinion regarding that case. We wanted to explain that the charges against the people accused in the “Sopot” case are connected to the content and the criminal acts that have been revealed from the content of the conversation that refers to this case. Taking into consideration the circumstances, we have a legal obligation to demand this case in order to voice our opinion about our jurisdiction over this case” as was stated in the SPO’s announcement.

Last week, the Public Prosecutor’s Office for prevention of organized crime and corruption confirmed that it has received a request by SPO, but it has addressed the Council of Public Prosecutors and has requested that the Council should state whether the case should be given to the Special Public Prosecutor.
