Fourteen-year anniversary since the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement

Today is the 14 year anniversary of the signing of the Ohrid Framework Agreement (OFA).

The conclusion of the agreement that was signed by then-president Boris Trajkovski, the presidents of Macedonian political parties, representatives of the EU and the United States, experts and advisors- put an end on the armed conflict in 2001.

“This Framework agreement will promote the peaceful and harmonic development of civil society and at the same time it will respect the ethnic identity and the interests of all Macedonian citizens,” says in part of the text.

Although the agreement had one purpose, it is interpreted selectively until this day, which causes divided opinions whether it was necessary to sign it and regarding the way it is implemented.
