Poposki – Zaorálek: Macedonia won’t be turned into a refugee camp

Macedonia will fulfil its obligations in accordance with international law and will provide accommodation for all asylum seekers based in the country, but we will not allow ourselves to be turned into a refugee camp, said Macedonian Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki after the meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic,Lubomír Zaorálek .

“Migrants don’t come to Macedonia by parachute, but they enter our territory through a Member State of the EU. We will provide humane and safe transit for everyone, and will apply decisions made at a European level, and we will cooperate as we have done so far with Greece and other member states who are assisting us, including the Czech Republic”, said Poposki .

At the meeting, Poposki said apart from the migrant crisis they discussed the Euro-Atlantic integration of Macedonia and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Zaorálek said the Czech Republic will continue to support Macedonia’s membership in EU and NATO, adding that his country is in the group of friends of Macedonia.

The Czech Foreign Minister also added that a large group of businessmen accompanied him to Macedonia who are interested in investing in Macedonia.
