Radmila Shekerinska, the Defense Minister of North Macedonia confirmed today later this evening, a military officer, a lieutenant colonel who is taking part in the European mission in the Central African Republic will be transferred for treatment from this African country to the Clinic for Infectious Diseases in Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia.

The officer last week tested positive to COVID-19 and upon recommendations from medical experts and with the cooperation of the EEAS, will be transferred for treatment in Skopje

The lieutenant colonel is suspected of being infected with the South African coronavirus strain which hasn’t been registered in North Macedonia so far, but experiences from other countries indicate it spreads faster and easier than other strains.
