Macedonia’s accession to NATO is a sovereign right of the country. Moscow fosters good relations with Skopje, but opposes the Alliance’s approach to Russia’s borders, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Thursday.
“It is the sovereign decision for Macedonia itself. We appreciate and maintain good relations with Macedonia. Of course, we are interested in developing bilateral cooperation. But with regard to NATO’s approach and its infrastructure to our borders, Moscow’s position on this process is known-and nothing has changed in that regard”, replied Peskov to a journalist’s question about the Kremlin’s position on Macedonia’s accession to NATO.
