Germany gives North Macedonia non-refundable grant of €2.4 million for energy transition

ESM’s General Director Vasko Kovachevski and the KfW Bank’s Director for North Macedonia and Kosovo’s, René Eschemann signed a non-refundable grant agreement for funding an energy transition from coal to renewable energy sources.

The signing of the agreement brings non-refundable assets from the German government in the amount of €2.4 million, which also ease the access to  additional €80.5 million EUR as cheap loans for construction of energy power stations.

ESM’s Director Vasko Kovachevski stressed that the €2.4 million will be used for building photovoltaic power plants at REK Bitola, for the second phase of the construction of the Wind park in Miravci, the reconstruction o 6 hydro power plants, modernization and upgrade of energy facilities, solar heating, etc.
