The German Bundestag has ratified the NATO Membership Protocol for the country. Germany became the 16th nation from the 29 member states that has formalized joining the largest military-political alliance in the world.
The German Government is convinced that the accession of the Republic of North Macedonia to NATO will contribute to the security and stability in the Euro-Atlantic area.
The populist Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Left however, opposed the ratification of membership.
Earlier, Norway ratified the country’s NATO accession protocol.
