From today MRT will no longer broadcast advertisements from the Government

“Macedonian Radio Television” will stops broadcasting Government advertisements and campaigns financed from the budget of the Republic of Macedonia, “Meta” has learned.

According to our sources, the employees of MRT an hour ago received orders not to broadcast government advertisements in the time intervals which had already been provided for them.

The decision reached by MTV statement of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media published yesterday, where they inform the media that from November the 10th , 2015 the law amending and supplementing the Electoral Code will come into force.

Article 83 of the Law amending and supplementing the Electoral Code, agreed between the parties signatories to the Przhino Agreement and voted on Monday said:

Since the day this code came into force until the date of the early parliamentary elections, which will be held on April 24, 2016, broadcasters, Newspapers and Electronic media (Internet portals) can not broadcast or publish advertisements financed from the budget of the Republic of Macedonia, budgets of municipalities and the City of Skopje and all other persons who by law entrusted with public authorities.

Although the law came into force on November the 10th, until today (November 13) the public broadcaster did not respect Article 83 and for three days it continued to broadcast advertisements funded from the budget of the Republic of Macedonia.
