MEPs tonight to discuss the resolution on Macedonia

Representatives of the European Parliament tonight will consider the resolution on Macedonia’s progress, which will tomorrow be put to vote.

The resolution, submitted by European Parliament rapporteur for Macedonia Ivo Vajgl, it is recommended immediately to begin negotiations with Macedonia. The document states that the name should not be an obstacle to start negotiations, because it will be resolved by the end of accession negotiations.

Even if it is voted in the European Parliament, Vajgl’s resolution has no binding effect on the European Commission and the Council of Europe, but it must be taken into account when making their decision.
