Bushati and Meta welcome platform by Albanian parties in Macedonia

-

Albanian officials welcomed the joint platform of the Albanian parties in Macedonia, reports a “Meta” correspondent from Tirana.

Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati said that it is an agreement for a stronger and more democratic Macedonia, while Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, said that the agreement will positively affect inter-ethnic relations in the country.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama on Saturday, after the public release of the platform, said it was a historic step.

“This is a historic step for the expression of will of the Albanians in Macedonia. The rights of Albanians, and not negotiations for government armchairs”, Rama wrote on his “Facebook” page.

The leaders of Albanian political parties in Macedonia, after the early parliamentary elections held on December 11 last year, met with Rama in Tirana twice and then with the President of Kosovo Hashim Thaçi. After meeting with Rama and Thaçi, the joint platform emerged from the Albanian parties in Macedonia, which will be the basis for negotiations on forming a new government.
