Visible ink marking declared unconstitutional

Marking the right thumb of the voter with visible ink is unconstitutional, constitutional judges concluded.

At today’s session of the Constitutional Court, judges unanimously canceled several provisions of the Electoral Code which obliged members of the electoral board to mark each voter in the exercise of his/hers right to vote and to check whether there already is a mark, which means that he/she already voted.

According to the Constitutional Court, constitutional principles of freedom of belief and the privacy of citizens are violated.
