Today, the suspects from the “Titanic” case, including the leader of VMRO-DPMNE, Nikola Gruevski, asked for one of the three judges to be excluded from the Criminal Council who were deciding on the request of the Special Prosecutor’s Office for custody, confirmed Basic Court I, Skopje.
When the accused and their defense realized which judges are on the council, they said that this is unknown to them and they cannot comment on the case.
The court rejected this as speculations that Gruevski, as well, as the other defendants accused in the “Titanic” case, initially received custody, but with the help of the President of the Council, one of the judges was replaced, and after a second vote, custody was not granted.
The Criminal Councils of the Basic Court I, rejected the 18 requests for custody as unfounded, which were filed by the Special Prosecutor’s Office and replaced their requests with precautionary measures, meaning, confiscating of passports and reporting to the court once a week.
