“Student Plenum”: Do not let Government’s monologue continue

Students from informal student organization “Student Plenum” appeal tomorrow’s protest, which will begin in front of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia at 2 pm, to be peaceful, without incident and without party and national signs. Revolted because the law was adopted at a Government meeting without being called to a public debate, they urge all citizens to support and join the mass protest.

– It seems that what the Government meant by public debate is a consensual discussion of Ministers and the Prime Minister in front of cameras. Despite all such public quasi-debates knowingly violating the legislation and the complete ignoring “Student Plenum”, as well as the universities themselves, we are not giving up. Dear citizens, students, professors, parents, high school students and pensioners, don’t allow this monologue of the Government to continue. Students, let’s win education back. This is the time to express anger not only against bad reforms, but also because our own country is ignoring us without shame, brazenly mocks us and circles us clumsily. Let’s demonstrate that the voice of the students doesn’t recognize political and national barriers, prove that we, the students, the more strongly we are pushed, the stronger we become. So, tomorrow we will all massively and creatively protest because together we are stronger – says Goran Tanevski from “Student Plenum”.

He added that they still haven’t received a response if the request by the professors and the “Student Plenum” to the Parliamentary Committee for Education, Science and Sports and the Speaker of the Assembly, in which they request permission representatives of the academic community and representatives of the “Student Plenum” to attend the meetings of the Committee, is accepted. “Student Plenum” says that they will gladly send their representatives.
