SPO: We have a statement from Krpač that he had received threats

The Special Public Prosecution (SPO) have a statement from Kosta Krpač where he informs the SPO about threats he had received, said Lenche Ristovska, spokesperson and prosecutor for the SPO at today’s press conference.

She added that the evidence is in their possession and that they will submit all the relevant information they have to the Public Prosecutor’s Office Skopje to help the investigation into the circumstances of the death of Kosta Krpač.
Ristovska said that due to the confidentiality of the preliminary investigation they are conducting, and the PPO Skopje’s investigation, they cannot share any further details about the case.

“The individual known as Kosta Krpač, as we have already announced, had volunteered to be a witness in a preliminary investigation that has not yet been made public. We have a statement from Kosta Krpač in which he indicates that threats were made against him. That is why the PPO Skopje were informed. The evidence is in our possession, but will be submitted to the PPO Skopje which may be relevant in their case. When the PPO Skopje finishes their preliminary procedure, and we feel that the time and conditions are right, we will inform the public of all the circumstances regarding this particular case”, said Ristovska.

The prosecutor, when answering a journalist’s question, said the Ministry of Interior were not informed of his status as a witness because Mr. Krpač had asked to be a protected witness.

“His cooperation was not reported to the Ministry of Interior because when we are dealing with an individual who is asking for status as a protected witness, it is our duty to keep his identity confidential, and not report to the Ministry of Interior that an individual is asking for status as a protected witness and then receives additional threats”, said Ristovska.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office yesterday stated the preliminary investigation found that Kosta Krpač who was found dead at his apartment in Kapistec on April 27, with a gunshot wound to the chest, had committed suicide.

In a brief statement made by the Public Prosecution , it said that although the preliminary investigation is confidential, they wanted to share this information with the public in order to put a stop to any speculation about the circumstances of Kosta Krpač’s death.

The prosecution indicated that the case is still ongoing and they will continue looking into the causes and circumstances regarding the death of Kosta Krpač .
