Ombudsman: Attempts to politically involve students must stop

Today, in a statement the Ombudsman of the Republic of Macedonia, expressed serious concern regarding attempts to involve children in protests which are being organized in cities across the country.

The Ombudsman also condemns the management’s approach in schools and calls on the school committees, Mayors, the State School Inspectorate and the Ministry of Education immediately, each of them within their own field, to take appropriate measures against those who distress or allow schools to influence and cause agitation and attempts to politically involve students.

These occurrences, said the statement by the Ombudsman, goes against the Law on Secondary Education, which forbids political and religious organization and activity in schools.
