The leadership of VMRO-DPMNE determined the exact date for the regular party congress which, according to the information, is to be held on 8th and 9th of May in Kumanovo, reports “Utrinski vesnik”.
The ruling party started preparations for the congress, which are taking place in the shadow of the heated political developments in the country, which expose the first cracks in the party core. However, estimates in party circles are that recent events on the domestic political scene do not question the undisputed position in the party of longtime leader and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.
Gruevski’s expectations are to be the only candidate for leader on this congress as well, especially given the internal party procedures that leave little room for factionist movements in party’s bodies, especially in a situation when the party is governing for a long time.
