Basic Court I’s Criminal Councils have rejected the demands by the Special Public Prosecution as unfounded for taking into custody VMRO-DPMNE’s party leader and former Prime Minister, Nikola Gruevski, the former chief of staff, Martin Protoger, former ministers of Interior and Transport and Communications, Gordana Jankuloska and Mile Janakieski, including the former Government’s General Secretary, Kiril Božinovski, suspects in the Titanic case.
As in previous cases, the custody that SPO has demanded was changed with measures of precaution i.e. both personal and diplomatic passports were taken away from Gruevski, Jankuloska, Protoger, Janakieski and Bozinovski, announced today the Criminal Court in Skopje.
The Court, as stated in the announcement, has accepted the proposal for determining measures of precaution for 16 persons that are suspects in the Titanic case, to whom their passports were taken away from them and they should report once a week to the court.
To four of the accused, i.e. K.T., K.V., B.B.B. and I.D. as was announced by the court, their diplomatic passports were taken.
SPO has a period of three days to lodge a complaint at the Appeal Court against the decisions of the Criminal Councils. With its decision regarding the accused in the Titanic case, the Criminal Court in Skopje has rejected all 18 requests for custody and SPO has announced that it will lodge complaints upon the decisions by the Criminal Councils of the Court with primary jurisdiction
