“Gender Equality” and the “Colourful Revolution” at the Skopje Marathon

More than 8,000 participants from 46 countries will today take part in the “Wizz Air Skopje Marathon”. It is the 12th marathon in Skopje. The Marathon is organised and supported by The City of Skopje, The European Union Mission, and a prize fund which is worth 17,100 euros.
During the marathon, a “Equal Gender’” campaign will take place organised by UNPD. Ten people dressed in orange, the colour which represents gender equality will run the short marathon.
“The fight for equal rights between men and women is a marathon, of historical proportion. Although we made progress here today, we still have a long way to go” said the director of the UNPD mission to Macedonia, Loiusa Vinton.
The marathon is made up of four marathons – marathon, half a marathon, marathon relay, and the 5,000 metre race, also this year, there will be competitions for the best banner and best photography. Amongst the contestants were supporters of the “Colourful Revolution” who wore stickers in support.

Because the Skopje Marathon which is traditionally organised on the occasion of the Day of Europe, today special traffic arrangements have been introduced across the city
