Construction debris that is being heaped on the slopes of Shar Planina is what caused the casualties in the villages located in the foothills, claim residents of Mala Rechica.
-Years back, people are piling on construction materials on the mountain. The rain caused all this debris to slide down. This is what killed the children and the others- said a resident of Mala Rechica.
The number of casualties in the floods has increased. According to locals from Golema Rechica, residents of this village had found two more bodies that have slid down from the village Lisec which is higher up on the Shar Planina mountain.
It is believed there are more casualties. Residents of Mala Rechica are still searching for missing persons.
According to official data, five casualties have been recovered following the floods.
