Calm before a storm in the political life in Macedonia?

-

Bombs, protests, arrests, police action in Kumanovo, resignations, gatherings, setting up camps, leadership meetings, negotiations in Brussels…The past few weeks have been full of political developments.

Everything happened with great speed, but suddenly stopped.

Opposition SDSM put the “bombs” on hold.

Civil movement “I protest” doesn’t holds protests, but meetings at the shell in City Park for several days now.

Negotiations between SDSM and VMRO-DPMNE in Brussels have been frozen for some time.

Two key institutions of state security are ten days left without a head – Public Security Bureau and Security and Counterintelligence Agency are left without directors.

At the gathering at Pela Square, Prime Minister Gruevski said that the atmosphere and the psychological situation have already begun to cause problems to Macedonia, in particular in the part of orders and foreign investors.

Chambers of Commerce yesterday warned that, if this atmosphere continues, the country is under a threat of bankruptcy.

A new leadership meeting in the Club of MPs is scheduled for Tuesday, 26th of May.

There are no announcements for further talks in Strasbourg or Brussels.
