Zaev receives full support from SDSM Central Board in name negotiations

Last night, members of the SDSM Central Board pledged their full support to the president of the party, Zoran Zaev, for negotiations with Greece over the constitutional name of Macedonia.

“The negotiations with the Government of the Republic of Greece continue. Never before have we been so close to a solution, and there has never been such a great friendship between Macedonia and Greece. I expect this to contribute in reaching a solution that will not only not endanger it but will further strengthen our identity. There is a possibility for a solution that citizens can confirm in a referendum”, said Zaev before members of the Central Board.

Speaking about the benefits of reaching a solution to the name dispute, Zaev said that by reaching a decision Macedonia will get an invitation for NATO membership and opens the opportunity to start negotiations on full-fledged membership in the EU and added that it will ensure our future, but the future of generations to come .

The Central Board unanimously adopted a Conclusion that fully conveyed the right of SDSM President Zoran Zaev to make decisions regarding the problem that Greece has with our constitutional name in order to secure a better future for Macedonia and all its citizens.

SDSM informed that at the sixth session of the Central Committee, the current political situation in the country was discussed, talks about the problem that Greece has with our constitutional name, the implementation of reforms and measures of the program that provide a better life for citizens, as well as internal activities in certain personnel issues.
