Today, Minister of Interior Oliver Spasovski said at the press briefing that Prime Minister, Zoran Zaev, while he was the leader of SDSM and now as prime minister has been under constant threats of assassination.
Zaev received indirect threats while he was a leader of SDSM two years ago when he published the materials from illegal wiretapping, i.e. regarding the project “The Truth about Macedonia”. These threats were reported to the Ministry of Interior, therefore after, Zaev was granted police protection.
“Since 2015, Zaev has been under constant threats of assassination. The security services have been taking serious measures to secure the prime minister, but also for all other officials”, said Spasovski.
In that context, Spasovski said, Zaev made a statement in an interview with the radio “Antena M” from Montenegro, where he said he was warned by security analysts that his life could be endangered.
However, today, Spasovski stated that there aren’t current threats to assassinate the prime minister.
