The SDSM leader Zoran Zaev accompanied by Radmila Sekerinska and Damijan Manchevski, today handed all of the wire-tapped materials and transcripts to the Special Prosecutor’s Office. As Zaev said, he received information, and saw the new safes where the materials will be kept.
“Today we handed over all materials related to the wire-tapping to the Special Public Prosecution and we would like to wish them a Happy New Year and success in their work. We are convinced that they will have a lot of work, and we hope that the citizens, through the Special Public Prosecutor will see justice served. The last part of SDSM’s obligations of the Przhino Agreement have been met, but we want to mention that the Inquiry Commission was established for political accountability through public statements. I hope and that obligation of the Przhino will be fulfilled. We expect the media laws to be passed and to reach an agreement to create a good ambient and setting to hold a crystal clean elections. We expect the SEC to also fulfil their obligations so we can have assurances that there will be democratic elections”. said Zaev.
When asked by journalists, he said he believed no-one would even think to protest before the Special Prosecutor’s Office. Also, on the question on whether the tapped conversations found in one of the defendants forged photocopies of ID were from those he had handed over to the Special Prosecution , he said that Saso Mijalkov ha all the originals and the secret police.
“If we have free and fair elections, all this evil will easily slip from power”, Zaev answered when he was asked whether he would accept defeat if he was to loose the election. He said the SDSM will respect the Przhino Agreement and will only appear at the elections if they’re solid guarantees that they will be crystal clear.
As for the release of Zoran Verushevski, Zaev said that the lawyers, who he uses as well, had been requesting for the jail detention to be replaced with a lighter measure.
