Bank notes are used throughout the whole country, and writing in another language on them, apart from Macedonian goes against the Constitution”, said the leader of SDSM, Zoran Zaev while answering a reporter’s question after the presentation of the new government’s program.

This, said Zaev, was the position of constitutional experts the party had consulted. This also applies for police and army uniforms.

“Uniforms for the police and the army are unique in the territory of the country, so making changes to the uniforms is also not in accordance to the constitution”, said Zaev, adding however, they “are open for debate”.

When asked about the choice of an Albanian Parliament Speaker, the SDSM leader said that talks on government and parliament appointments have not been discussed, but he did stress that he had no preconceptions regarding the ethnicity of the Parliament Speaker.

“I expect capacity from people, the same goes for the Parliament Speaker. I expect Parliament to be corrective, with a president who knows how to lead a debate and how to talk to the future opposition when decisions are being made in the interest of citizens”, said Zaev.
