Zaev: Elections on April 24 can not and will not be held

-

In Macedonia there are no conditions for free and fair elections, and yesterday it was confirmed by the ambassadors of the US and the EU, Jess Baily and Aivo Orav said SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, at a press conference.

He stated that reforms have not been not implemented in the media, and the voters’ list has not been cleansed, which are the most two important conditions for holding elections.

“Yesterday, Nikola Gruevski ran away from an objective assessment and the truth. He made it impossible for elections to be held on April 24. Insisting on elections now, will only push Macedonia further and into a dramatic crisis. We will not allow this to happen. Elections on April 24 can not and will not be held”, said Zaev.

When asked by the media for his reaction to the announcement from the ruling party that there are conditions for fair and democratic conditions, and that the ambassadors did not offer enough arguments, Zaev said that the figures, data and the time for the cleansing of the voters’ list is measurable, and speaks for itself.

He said they do not intend to aliment the elections, however, at the same time they will not be silent bystanders.

According to him, if the VMRO-DPMNE decide to go ahead with elections, the bodies of the party would have to discuss a strategy.

Zaev also said he would withdraw his ministers from government if the date is not changed for elections.
