SDSM leader Zoran Zaev, in an interview with news agency “Beta” which conveys news to the Serbian Public Broadcaster RTS, said that the Przhino Agreement can reaffirm that fair and democratic elections could be prepared and conducted as early as October. Zaev said the opposition, led by his party would win the elections.
“Recent surveys suggest that the opposition is in the lead in the polls in Macedonia, we are ranked as the number 1 party, however, we must remain aware as we live under a regime, where citizens are under huge pressure, and that is why we believe that the surveys show that the people favour the SDSM”, said Zaev.
Zoran Zaev said that the requirement for the political agreement to continue in resolving the political crisis, is the full withdrawal of the pardons which were granted by President Gjorgi Ivanov.
“We believe that during the summer period, the way out of this political crisis will clearly define itself. Summer, in any case, will be calm and peaceful. It all depends on what happens by the end of June”, said Zaev.
The opposition leader said that Macedonia is leading a Gandhian struggle, so citizens show that the regime can be toppled without violence or casualties.
“The citizens of Macedonia are no longer scared as they once were. The time has come and they have become more courageous than before. Even members of the VMRO-DPMNE await the liberation of Macedonia”, said Zaev.
He added that his party supports the “Colourful Revolution” because they believe that civil organizations should have a major role in society.
