Zaev: The elementary right of workers to strike has been brought into question

-

SDSM leader Zoran Zaev sent a message on the occasion of 1st of May, International Workers’ Day.

– 1st of May 2015 in Macedonia will be remembered as the day we started restoring determination of citizens to defend workers’ human rights and dignity, which a small governing group unacceptable represses and hurts for nine consecutive years. 1st of May Day was once a celebration of the acquired workers’ rights and day when workers raised their voices to promote their rights. The past nine years, the crude government of Gruevski and his family returned citizens and the state in feudalism. The deeply hurt all constitutionally and legally guaranteed workers’ rights, on all grounds. For the first time since the independence of Macedonia, elementary right of workers to strike has been brought into question. Freedom of speech is suppressed and there is an attempt to prevent free thought in an undemocratic and uncivilized manner – reads Zaev’s message.

According to the opposition leader, one of the fundamental rights – to work and to be a worker – is brought into question.
