At the moment we are negotiating the special public prosecutor, who is going to have authority and will be able to initiatie legal proceedings regarding everything that arises from the recorded telephone conversations. We owe that to the citizens through an independent special public prosecutor. These proceedings will reveal what is true, what isn’t and accroding to the findings, we will initiate legal processes, staid today in Struga the president of SDSM Zoran Zaev.
– We are convinced that a solution will be found. It is true that we are not exactly sure what the solution will be, and that includes the opposition and the government, but we are absolutely in agreement that he will enjoy thorough autonomy. We have agreed that the prosecutor will have authority over everything that arises from the tapped conversations. This was proposed by all four parties that signed the Agreement. The difference in how we conceive the role is regarding the team of the prosecutor. Our position is that, according to the law for public prosecuting, each prosecutor has a team within the office of the prosecutorship. The Government claims this should be resolved by introducing expert teams and facilitators- said Zaev.
I plea with the expert public to help and give its comments.
– There are experts that fit the profile that work in the courts but not in the prosecutorhip. We know that the experts can be found who can provide the practical and technical support. The courts have the level of quality that is expected, which is not the case with the prosecutorship. I believe we will resolve this issue quickly. We are in general agreement about the autonomy of the special prosecutor, but also about the selection of inspectors and the workings of the investigation offices. There are no dillemas about the pay, about the technical capabilities which has to be demonstrated. The dillema that the public is concerned about is whether we will elect the prosecutor by September 15. We have decided that there will be a prosecutor by that date. We have agreed, there are guarantees that it will happen and there is no turning back- said Zaev.
Zaev said SDSM will be back in Parliamnet on September 1.
He added that by the end of the elections there are going to be legal proceedings that will bring firm decisions, so that both Zaev and Gruevski will sit in the court.
– There is no turning back. We are unbiased to all citizens. Those who have broken the law is going to answer in front of it. Macedonia doesn’t need new cases of amnesty. Of course, evidence will be available in the proceedings. The independent public prosecutorship, that we are demanding, that will be headed by a special prosecutor, will have to take this to the end. This is very important because it represents the first step in the reforms towards an independent legal system in Republic of Macedonia- commented Zaev.
