Young mathematicians from NMacedonia won two silver and two bronze medals in Oslo

The Union of Mathematicians of Macedonia announced last night that at the 63rd International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2022) which took place in Oslo, Norway, the Macedonian national team won two silver medals, two bronze medals, and two honorable mentions.

“Our students acchieved excellent result. At this most prestigious mathematical competition in the world, our students Nikola Spirovski and Damjan Davkov won 29 points, i.e. silver medals, Blazhe Suklevski won 27 points and a bronze medal, while Jan Stojanovski also got a bronze medal, with 24 points won.

Aleksij Tasikj won 21 points and the student Jasna Ilieva won 18 points, and both got honorable mentions“, the Association of Mathematicians informed.

The International Mathematical Olympiad is a competition for high school students, but there is no lower age limit and students under the age of 15 can also compete. Each participating country can send up to six competitors. The first International Mathematical Olympiad was held in Romania in 1959.

Last week four medals were won by the student team from N. Macedonia at the Junior Balkan Mathematical Olympiad. Student Damjan Davkov won a gold medal, Leonid Todoroski won silver medal, and the students Dimitar Fidanovski and Marko Mitevski won bronze medals. The students Marko Serafimovski and Nina Lameva also acchieved success at the Olympiad.
