If he does not sign the law on the ratification of the treaty with Greece after a second time it will be voted in Parliament, the President of the State Gjorge Ivanov will introduce a bad practice of interference with the responsibility of the authorities, ie taking over the responsibilities which belong to Parliament. This was stated by the Parliament Speaker, Talat Xhaferi, at a briefing with journalists today.
“I appeal to the president of the state to consider in the context of today’s decision announced by NATO and in the context of the upcoming Alliance summit in July. I hope he will understand what this historic moment means for the country, and then Parliament will carry out its responsibilities. Parliament must find a way to end this bad practice, which was in the case of the Law on Languages. Parliament has the authority to implement the will of the elected MPs, and all institutions are obliged to implement and abide by the Constitution”, stressed Xhaferi.
He said that if Ivanov did not sign the law, the same solution will be used for both the Agreement and the Law on the Use of Languages.
One of the decisions is that they should be sent to the Official Gazette without the signature of President Ivanov.
