Parliament Speaker, Talat Xhaferi, today met with the US Ambassador, Jess Baily and the Ambassador of France, Christian Thimonier, where they discussed the current political situation in the country and received support from both countries for the implementation in further steps in the process of the formation of institutions.

“In the next series of important steps for the future of the Republic of Macedonia, Ambassador Baily emphasized the formation of a new government, during which Speaker Xhaferi spoke of the steps which need to be taken, stressing that he is obliged to implement with all his authority the proposals submitted for the composition of the government as well as the programs”, said a statement from Xhaferi’s office.

Xhaferi and Baily expressed their expectations that in the upcoming period, both sides will feel a sense of high political awareness and responsibility “over certain imposed or provoked conditions to ease tensions and to pave a calm way for the establishment of democratic processes in the country”.

At the meeting with Thimonier, Xhaferi said that the place for debate and confrontation of political attitudes and opinions, is in Parliament and that all other views expressed by representatives from high state institutions should not be an obstacle to the democratic processes which have already begun.

“In this regard, the procedure for electing a new government is the beginning of the realization of the credentials of the new Parliament Speaker, based on the Constitution, the laws and the Rules and Regulations of Parliament”, informed the Parliamentary services.
