With a Fake Photo, the Public is Being Deceived that Zelensky Participated in a Gay Parade

-

A photo of several people posing at a gay parade accompanies the post. In the photo, there is a person with Zelensky’s face. Truthmeter looked up the same photo through the Tin Aye search engine and found it was taken in 2006, not 1999 as claimed in the post. Zelensky is not in the original photo, writes Truthmeter.mk.

A Facebook post is manipulating the public that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was photographed at a pride parade in 1999. Our review has shown that such a claim is not true.

A photo of several people posing at a gay parade accompanies the post. In the photo, there is a person with Zelensky’s face. Truthmeter looked up the same photo through the Tin Eye search engine, and we found that it was not taken in 1999, as claimed in the post, and Zelensky is not in the original photo. The photo that was served to the users of the social network Facebook has altered content, i.e. the face of the Ukrainian president is photoshopped.

On Flickr, several photos of the same event with the same people can be found, but none of them shows Zelensky. There is also the person whose face has been replaced (photoshopped) with that of the Ukrainian president. These photos were taken in 2006.

Photographs, published in 2014, from the same parade claimed to have been held in New York, can be seen here.

Such a post, which is viral on the social network Facebook, manipulates users through the edited photo. That is why we evaluate the post as untrue.
