Prisoners from ‘Idrizovo’ have entered their second day on a hunger strike. Their goal is to grasp the public’s attention and to show the public the inhumane conditions they are staying in.
Today the strike has spread across more prisons as prisoners complain about overcrowding and the poor standard of food.
Prison officials have been notified of the strike and even they admit that “Idrizovo” only has a capacity for 800 inmates but houses nearly 2,000.
In each report on Macedonia by international human rights organizations have criticized the country for inhuman conditions in prisons.
