Quiet day in Gevgelija – Small groups of migrants are crossing the border

-

The situation on the Macedonian-Greek border at Gevgelija is quiet. Around 600 migrants crossed the border during the night and headed to the Tabanovce crossing at the Serbian border with the five o’clock train.

The Ministry of Interior reports that they are processing numbers of migrants, according to their capacity, to cross the border. Those who belong to vulnerable categories are given priority to cross.

From the Macedonian Rails authority came the announcement that they will organize more trains to transport the migrants who have arrived at the train station in Gevgelija.

Foreign news agencies report that the migrants had spent the cold and rainy night out in the open, without access to water, food and shelter, while at the same time new groups are arriving on foot at the border zone.

In the past two months, a total of 41,595 foreign nationals have received a document that enables them to submit for a recognition of the right of exile.
