VMRO-DPMNE’s leadership has asked for an amnesty, but Zaev claims it was rejected

-

There was a request from the leadership of the former governing party, but those requests were rejected, said last night the Prime Minister Zoran Zaev in an interview for the national broadcasting service MRTV when he was replying to a question whether in the past period there were talks about amnestying high ranking officials from the VMRO-DPMNE’s ranks. He stressed that the justice has to function for everyone, i.e. that even his closest associates and members of the family will have to be held responsible if they break the law.

The new government will not destroy nor dislodge monuments, as that would mean new expenditures, said Zaev. He still insisted that “he wants to strip at least one of the facades in order to showcase how ugly it is” but that is just a personal wish and as a Prime Minister I cannot allow such spending of citizen’s money and a moratorium on building and placing new monuments.
