Some municipal committees gather signatures in support of VMRO-DPMNE leader Nikola Gruevski, META unofficially found out.
According to our sources from the party, eminent and prominent party figures from Shtip signed t, while representatives of Bitola branch of VMRO-DPMNE say signatures for “civic movement for the defense of Macedonia” are also signatures in support of Gruevski.
However, VMRO-DPMNE argued that it is not a matter of an organized action, because they are a “stable party with party membership which is included in all activities of the party.”
– There is no such thing because there is no need. The national gatherings show that the party president has a lot of support and therefore collecting signatures would be utterly useless – stated Aleksandar Bichikliski from VMRO-DPMNE for us.
Representatives of Bitola branch of VMRO-DPMNE say signatures for “civic movement for the defense of Macedonia” are also signatures in support of Prime Minister and leader Nikola Gruevski.
This way, the ruling party in Bitola measured the mood of their members after Zaev’s “bombs”, stated party sources in Bitola for META.
Officially, representatives of the municipal committee say that the signatures are gathered by the civic initiative, not the party, but are still proof that the leader of VMRO-DPMNE Gruevski has the support among of its membership in Bitola.
– We, as a party, do not gather signatures in support, it is not necessary. The gathering in Bitola showed that the leader Gruevski has the full support of the membership – says Blagoj Shaklevski, spokesman of the municipal committee in Bitola.
Former President of the Students Union of UKIM Samoil Malcheski claims that Nikola Gruevski is no longer a legitimate president of VMRO-DPMNE since his term expired on 6th of March.
