VMRO-DPMNE’s MPs demand all future public prosecutors to be chosen by the opposition. This was stated today by VMRO-DPMNE’s MP, Ilija Dimovski, at a press conference that took place at the Parliament, before the parliamentary session during which the dismissal of the current State Public Prosecutor, Marko Zvrlevski will be decided.
As Dimovski said, the opposition has submitted a motion for a law to be brought in a shortened procedure, where apart from the public prosecutor to be proposed by the opposition, it demands the prosecutor to be voted with a two third majority instead of a simple majority.
According to the current legislative, the state public prosecutor is chosen by a proposal of the Government.
According to Dimovski, this change will introduce a greater inclusivity in the process of electing a public prosecutor in the Republic of Macedonia.
